Michelle Willett Thrive - Nutrition & Movement

Hi & Welcome

Hi and welcome to my Nutrition and Wellness Blog.

I thought it fitting that my first blog should be a brief intro about me.  Who am I?  Why am I training in Nutritional Therapy and what can I offer you?

My hats include: gym instructor, exercise to music teacher, personal trainer, gym manager, yoga teacher, movement coach and passionately obsessed optimum health advocate!  I have been living and breathing this stuff for over 15years, in fact, probably all my life.  If you would like to know more about my career leading up to now, please have a read of this article on my Yogaish site.

Briefly I would like to talk about my nan, she was like a second mum to me ( I feel super lucky to have had her until I was 35), she passed in Dec 2019.  Her suffering set a resolve in me…I never want to see someone I love or care for suffer the way she did.  She was on multiple medications that never seemed to make her any better yet they gave her undignified side effects.  She merely existed for the latter part of her life; avoiding going out because of pain, medication side effects & poor mental health.  Keeping people alive should not be the goal.  Providing longevity is what you deserve.  How do you feel better and truly live for the years that you are in this world?  You take ownership.

Watching my nan has taught me this….because if you don’t do it.  No-one else will.

My experience in the wellness industry has taught me lots over the years, however 3 very important things have resulted in me making the decision to add this 3 year Nutritional Training to my skill set.

  1. Nutrition is bloomin complicated and so unique to each individual.  Without the proper knowledge and guidance you waste time and money on guesses and hunches.  There are a few universal truths…ie eat the rainbow, drink more water, skip the junk food etc, however the rest is so nuanced that an off the shelf approach rarely works.
  2. I’m a bit scared to say this because my other avenue of business may take a hit….but….Exercise alone is not enough to achieve optimum health.  The healthiest people in the world (check out the bluezones.com) don’t really know what the word ‘exercise’ is.  Movement is simply a part of their lifestyle, so are vegetables, carbohydrates, quality meat, daylight, nature, purpose, community and often wine!
  3. Finally…There need not be as much suffering as there is.  The vast majority of pain, sleepless nights, lack of energy and low moods can be helped by making changes to your nutrition, movement, stress levels and rest.  You have so much power to live a magnificent life…you just need to know how to do it.  So I have trained to be someone who can do just that.  I will show you the way but you have to walk the path

Only the fool believes there are shortcuts.  Lets walk this beautiful journey together, one step at a time.
